deep inside, my heart is breaking ;;
Since the beginning of the nineteenth century, there have been many reforms throughout the world. All have led to this- the 1940's. This decade was the buffer between the radical 30's, full of change, and the conservative 50's, when people went back to what they knew. 1940 began in bloodshed, with Germany continuing to plow through Europe. 1941 brought the disaster at Pearl Harbor, and the United States' entrance into the war. The Pacific islands were brutally attacked as the US tried to get Japan to surrender. 1942 was equally as bloody, and as 1943 rolled into 1944, there was no promise of an end. It seemed that it could go on forever.
Men went off to war by the millions, leaving wives at home who in turn became working women to provide for their families. The whole world's changing in the post-depression decade, when money is finally becoming easier to come by as well as jobs. In Los Angeles, the city of angels, every citizen seems ready to take on this new world, without the consequences attached.
they're gonna find you, just believe ;;
For thousands of years, there's been a war raging right under the public's eye, but not between nations or tribes- it's between two species. One group, the Jumpers, have paranormal abilities, and many use those abilities for their own benefit. Anomalies by any other name, the Jumpers are just like your average person, only with the ability to travel thousands upon thousands of miles in a split second. Their opposition? The Paladins, who are firm in their belief that every Jumper needs to die. They stop at nothing.
And recently? Nothing has been a literal statement. Their secrecy has been what's kept them a secret, but lately they've abandoned that statute in light of the World War and are becoming wreckless. Some humans, intuitive humans, are starting to catch on, and this spells bad news for the Paladins and the Jumpers alike.
you're not a person, you're a disease ;;
The Jumpers have been around for thousands of years, born with the extraordinary ability to open wormholes to move over vast space in mere seconds. Behind them, they leave jump scars that close within a minute. What is the problem with this? They choose a life of luxury versus a life of honesty and jump into bank vaults, taking thousands of dollars with them and wounding the lives of hundreds. For their relationships, they lose touch and often leave others emotionally hurt.
The Paladins have been around conceivably as long as the Jumpers, fighting their existance as if they were a plague. They use specialized technology to kill them, discovering that electricity paralyzes them and hinders their ability to jump. Then they're easy to kill in all the regular methods. In recent years, they've been losing their battle, and have resorted to half-thought plans to do their jobs.
all these lives ;;
Good morning, world. It's 1944 and everyone's a buzz.
